Local traffic reporter "Detour" Dan Beach uses that term to describe a car fire like this one that happened just up the street from my office. I got these shots out my office window.

Not sure if there were any injuries. The car appears to have been put in park and there's no ambulance in sight. The fire department has even left the scene at this point (about an hour after the fire), so the driver probably got out and is safe somewhere, though I don't see anyone in the area looking distraught over the loss of his/her car or looking really happy about just escaping death, so who knows?

Three local buses were trapped behind the fire for a while, but they've been rerouted and are on their way. Late, but at least they're moving again.
