Flee flea plea

We've been doing some landscaping as I mentioned earlier, and in so doing we've found the front yard is infested with fleas.

Why?

Well, the next door neighbors have apparently been letting a couple stay with them (in their van in their driveway) with more than half a dozen cats which the couple claim to treat with flea powder, spray, and collars. I haven't seen collars on most of the cats, but we certainly do seem to suddenly have a bunch of fleas hopping about the yard.

Now, when we work outside, we spray ourselves with insect repellant in the hopes of not bringing fleas inside with us to infest our 5 cats, 2 birds, and 2 humans. And, we're trying something that PJ found out about through dealing with the Feline Diabetes Message Board folks.

Combine some basic blue Dawn dishwashing liquid with some water, spray it in the infested area, and fleas go away.

So far, so good, but we'll probably have to lather and repeat (no rinsing) until these people move on with their cats. In the meantime, we're giving our kitties baths. Yesterday was bath day for Billie, Stevie, and Lindsay. Oh, was that ever fun. Next will be Cagney and Sassy.

Please remember us fondly.
