Overall, this month has sucked.
Hell, this year has sucked.
Right now, I'm in a scramble for money to pay bills I never should have racked up. Yes, I've learned my lesson about living beyond my means. Stupid, stupid, stupid, but I'm dealing with it and will overcome... eventually. That will involve cutting up credit cards, working out payment plans, and finding a second job.
Of course, if more people would
buy my stuff (hint hint), that could be my second job.
Work is insane with too much to do and too little time to do it. On the other hand, I suppose it's better than not having enough to do and being bored or, worse, facing a company shut down as I have in the past.
Oh, here's some fun with no real positive spin... PJ's been diagnosed with a congenital spinal defect that should have been picked up in childhood. Prognosis for children is good. Not so much for adults since it's incredibly rare to find such a condition in adults. Back surgery is probably in our future before more irreversible damage can be done.
We found that out in the midst of celebrating PJ's birthday which didn't overall suck. In fact, it was pretty darned good. We went to see
Chicago in concert and they rocked the house as we knew they would. They do not disappoint. Well, maybe a little since they didn't play
Mongonucleosis, trombonist Jimmy Pankow's instrumental creation, but aside from that, it was a great concert in a surprisingly comfortable venue.
For her birthday, the kittens got PJ some comfort food from the Northeast (she's from New Hampshire) and I gave her my digital camera, an upgrade from what she was using, in favor of my new camera which I haven't worked with much yet. It's the
Kodak Z812 IS and I'm looking forward to putting it to work for me.
Yes, that was all bought before the whole indebtedness really sank in. The camera was the last indulgence, but was bought with the intention of using it to make money. Did I mention I have a
store online featuring my photography?
We've done some landscaping thanks in part to the wonderful folks at
Desert Botanical Garden and their annual fall plant sale. We've planted some sage bushes at the front of the property and a fire bush in the front yard toward the back. Photos will follow once we've got a few things settled in better.
Oh, the palo brea tree is doing wonderfully, but the emu bush died a hideous death. "Grows in Australia" does not equal "grows in Arizona" for those who were wondering.
That's about it for the time being and I'll try to keep up better. The cats and birds are doing all right, PJ's keeping on in the face of adversity, and I'm pretty much falling apart at the seams, but that's pretty normal for me, I suppose.
