Work on the house progresses. A few weeks ago, I replaced a couple of light fixtures outside that were in rough shape. Today, with PJ's invaluable help, we replaced the ceiling fan in the dining room.

We also found out why the ceiling fan that was there was dying a slow death. Seems whoever put the fan up in the first place didn't bother to attach the fan's ground wire to anything. It was just sitting on the motor mount.

It's a wonder this place hasn't burnt to the ground.

Not being a skilled electrician or plumber, I've decided to leave some of the heavy work to licensed contractors through our home warranty. We've got a leaky bathtub faucet, an unseated toilet, a couple of loose electrical outlets, and a light fixture that's kaput (probably also not grounded properly). If we ask really nicely, we might get a new thermostat out of the deal since the one we have isn't easy to adjust and doesn't seem to communicate well with the heat pump.

In the meantime, we're holding off on most things outdoors for now since the temps are over 110 every day and we've decided to tackle the kitchen. We're painting the ceiling, repainting the walls, staining the cabinets, refacing the doors and drawers, and retiling (vinyl) the floors. We're hoping to have that done by September.

Stay tuned!
