PJ and I live near South Mountain Park in Phoenix, the largest municipal park in the country. It's a beautiful park with incredible hiking opportunities, photo ops galore, and fantastic views of the Valley of the Sun.

You'll also run into some of the most disrespectful AZholes you'll ever have the misfortune to come across.

Upon entering the park, visitors are handed a flyer that specifically tells you what is considered unacceptable (and in some cases criminal) behavior. Things like playing loud music (except in designated areas and with a permit to do so), littering, and buying or selling ANYTHING.

So, after a few months of living so close to the mountain preserve, we decided to take our cameras for a little excursion through the park. We found the following:

A family blasting a boombox at one of the ramadas where amplified music is expressly forbidden.

A woman selling jewelry spread out on a blanket in a parking lot just to the side of the signs posted specifically forbidding such activities.

People climbing all over structures which, while not marked with "Do not climb on these buildings" signs have no obvious or safe ways to climb the buildings. They were later chased off by park rangers, one of whom loudly exclaimed, "This is exactly the kind of thing you're not supposed to be doing here."

And litter and grafitti just about everywhere.

At least we had nice weather.
