Adios, Don

Back in the early 80s, I listened to
Don Imus on New York's WNBC back when they played music. He was crude, rude, and very funny back then.
I've heard him more recently on his now cancelled
MSNBC simulcast of his show out of WFAN. He's still crude and rude, but the funny seems to have gone all out of him. I know the man still has his fans, but so do
Howard Stern and
American Idol, neither of which I understand the appeal.
So, now that Don Imus has outraged the self-appointed leaders of all Black Americans,
Jesse Jackson and
Al Sharpton, for offhandedly calling
Rutgers women's basketball players "nappy heady hos" on his show during some silly banter with his producer on-air, Imus has apologized profusely on his own show, on Sharpton's show, is trying to apologize in person to the players (who, if you've seen any photos of them, generally have straightened hair and are thus not nappy headed), has been suspended by WFAN for two weeks, has lost advertisers, and has lost his simulcast agreement with MSNBC.
He most likely will be fired in short order which makes me wonder how long it will be until he makes it satellite radio like his old rival from WNBC, Howard Stern.
All the good the man has done in this world, and all he'll probably be remembered for is a stupid comment on his stupid radio show.
