Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Our new vet for the moment tells us that Cagney, while still semi-comatose, is slowly but steadily improving.

She's getting insulin on a regular basis and it's back within a normal range, though they're trying to keep it high-normal right now to give her a little more energy to help her fight her way back.

They successfully force-fed her last night and will try again today. It's the first she's eaten anything in about 5 days. She's also responding more to outside stimulae and appears to be entering a more normal wake-sleep cycle rather than being simply zoned out all the time.

It may not seem like remarkable improvement, but right now any improvement is remarkable and damn near miraculous after the hell she's been through already.

I'll take slow and steady over no improvement any day of the week.
