Brown Cloud over Phoenix
A Phoenix Fall Haiku

Autumn in Phoenix.
Cooler, wetter, dirtier.
Brown Cloud never leaves.

This is sunrise a few days ago over downtown Phoenix as seen from around 40th Street and Baseline Road, about 10 miles to the southeast.

To the right is Chase Field (formerly known as Bank One Ballpark or BOB), home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. To the left you might be able to make out Phoenix City Hall.

At the bottom of the picture is our unmistakeable ode to cars and construction, The Brown Cloud.

Decades ago, people moved to the Phoenix area to cure their respiratory distress. Now those of us who moved here without breathing problems get them.
