tiny kittyThis tiny kitty may be the latest addition to our family.

After losing our beloved Blair to FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) a few years back, we've been very careful when adopting new kitties. You see, FIP is a fatal and communicable disease. Since we had another cat, Cagney, in the house when Blair died, we wanted to make sure that any new companions would be healthy enough to not make Cagney sick.

Enter Ko'ko who we were thinking of adopting a few months after Blair passed on. We took her to our vet from the shelter and, when the FIP tests came back positive, we passed on adopting her. We told the shelter about the test, gave them a copy of the results, and suggested she could be a great cat in a one-cat home for as long as she remained healthy which could be right up until she dies of natural causes.

The shelter people were less than impressed.

When we found Sassy, we also had her tested. She passed with flying colors and has been a member of our family for a couple of years now.

Then this little girl shows up on the doorstep of our new home.

I was moving some boxes into the house when I noticed the back gate was open, so I went into the yard to investigate and sitting there was this very little, very scared, and very vocal kitty. She came up to me and rubbed on my legs all the while telling me her tale of woe.

PJ heard her from inside the house and came out to find out what all the yowling was about. We decided to take the kitty inside the house, get her a few things (litter box, food, water, ear cleaning, etc.) and keep her separated from Cagney and Sassy who are still living in our apartment until we can get her to the vet and have her checked out. If she's healthy enough, she becomes the newest member of our family and will meet her new step-siblings when we move on the 21st.

If she's not healthy...

We're keeping our fingers crossed.
