Well, I've finally got the first physical injury of this move. Yesterday, PJ and I were at the new house trying to tear down a fake fireplace (complete with electric logs) flanked by two bookshelves. The shelves are screwed into the sides of this fireplace monstrosity.
Some of the rather long screws were stripped out when they were put into the structure, so they're just not ready to come out, and we've had to pry some from their holes. While attempting to pry one out, the claw hammer I was using (with some success) slipped off the screw and my hand came banging down on the fixed shelf.
Turns out I've now got a sprained left thumb for my troubles.
But that damned shelf is no longer attached to anything.
Tonight, we finish that demo project along with taking down a few other things (brackets, hooks, a chalkboard, a door and frame from an aborted attempt to wall off a wide hallway) from walls and ceilings where they don't belong anymore. Wish us luck!
